According to a ministry of external affairs official, Zuma conveyed the invitation to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson when she called on him on Friday evening. However, it was not immediately known if Gandhi accepted the invitation. Gandhi was also invited to attend the centenary celebrations of African National Congress in 2012.
